Structure

The project activities are divided into three Work Packages (WP), in addition to WP1 (Management and coordination).

Under WP2 the project will survey and identify which functions national legislators have reallocated from courts to other authorities or the private parties themselves, which authorities are competent and what mechanisms have been introduced. Drawing from these findings, the research team will draft a comparative report and best practices. This phase is also meant to assess whether the shift of the administration of justice to non-judicial bodies is a sensible form of deregulation or rather endangers family and succession law policies aimed at balancing gender equality, children’s rights and public interests.

Under WP3, building on the outputs of WP2, the project participants will detect critical issues in the existing EU instruments and provide guidelines for their application. A virtual map is meant to facilitate and support judicial cooperation and to promote the circulation of decisions, authentic instruments and agreements.

Finally, under WP4, the project activities, its preliminary and final results will be disseminated among stakeholders, public authorities, policy-makers, EU and national courts, the academic community and the general public.
